Olivia Penpraze.

19 years old.

Died from a Suicide attempt that left her brain dead. Her parents made the hardest decision of their lives by turning off her life support.

She had a Tumblr account with over 900 posts sharing her emotional turmoil, dealings with depression, loneliness & thoughts about her wanting to take her own life.

The only response she got, was insensitive assholes, like the majority of people on Tumblr, encouraging her to do it. She was bullied consistently.
Olivia attempted to kill herself every year in May 1st since 2008.

In May 2012, her short life came to an end.

I know most people can’t tolerate posts like Olivia’s, whom find it attention seeking.
My point to you people is…

EXACTLY!!

Of course it’s attention seeking what else it?! People share that part of themselves over the Internet because they obviously feel they can’t talk to anyone they know nor do they think anyone would care.

All I want is for people to cut out the bullying & talk to people like Olivia.
A conversation to someone in desperation could save their life.

If people can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.

You never know…

I’m just going to ignore that annoying “YOU NEED TO REBLOG THIS” at the bottom (seriously, people, that is a turn OFF, not a helper) and reblog, because a good point was made; one that I constantly try to tell people. “Attention seeking” happens for a reason. Even if you think that person isn’t truly suicidal and is just trying to get a reaction, maybe that is exactly what they need. Someone to tell them that they care early on - before those feelings really do turn into attempts and those attempts turn into another horrible statistic.

I don’t care if it’s online or off, your best friend or a complete stranger, you have no idea what else is going on in their life, or in even in their heads, that they haven’t put on there for you to see. I’m not asking you to put on this mask of kindness if you don’t like someone. But don’t think it’s ever okay to push them around like this. Don’t ever tell someone to take their own life. They just might.

I lost a friend to this kind of harassment. I really don’t want to remind myself of everything that happened so I won’t say a word about it. All I will say is, he was one of my best friends and the kindest person I had ever known. The pain I went through after his death was indescribable. I want you all to know that it’s not easing knowing that someone you love had such thoughts that they didn’t deserve living anymore. I’m not good with words at all so please excuse this lousy paragraph I have attempted to write to move you. I am serious though. Don’t ignore this.

Wow, okay I never post stuff like this but holy crap. I’ve gotten nasty messages from anons and people tell me to brush it off or turn anonymous off. It’s not that easy, it’s clearly not that easy. I have suffered through 5 years of self-harming myself and people think it’s just THAT easy. It’s not. Why can’t shit like this go viral so fast? Why Kony 2012? Why can’t we deal with these problems before sticking our noses into other people’s businesses? Damn, open your eyes people!

I really don’t get it though. 

I’m not saying people aren’t bullied for being gay. They are and its awful. But stuff like that last post “reblog if you against bullying due to sexual orientation” are actually pretty upsetting. If you’re against bullying be against bullying for any reason. Do you really think only homosexual kids go through this? Do you really think they are the only ones traumatized? Why do we all insist on ignoring the truth? It doesn’t always get better. 

But maybe you’ll meet someone who has suffered just as much as you. And maybe the fact that you’re still here after all the abuse will be enough to inspire them. Maybe its enough to know that other people are still suffering just as much as you.

If only everything ended like in the movies. Then you could stand up to the bully and everyone will clap and everything will be okay.

Note to Self is a performance that deals with gay, lesbian, bi and transgender people who have died due to hate crimes committed against them. Coble compiled a list of 436 names of these individuals, through research on various websites, news reports and official and unofficial documentation. The list started and ended with the word “anonymous” to acknowledge the many lives that were taken that my list didn’t include.

During a solid twelve-hour timeframe these names were tattooed, with no ink, onto the surface of Coble’s body. He had these names inklessly tattooed on his body as a reference to the brutality of these murders; many of the victims had slurs such as dyke or faggot carved into their bodies.

After each name was completed, a Blood Painting was made by pressing a sheet of paper directly against the fresh abrasion. These prints were then places on the walls of the gallery. As the list of name compiled on his body the same list was mirrored on the gallery walls. 
The first three hours of this performance was open to the public while the last nine hours were webcast so the audience could watch via the net.

Meet Jade. She killed herself three days after making this video.. Teenage suicide accounts for 31,000 suicides a year in the U.S, making it the 3rd leading cause of suicide. Worldwide, nearly one million people commit suicide every year.. more than those murdered or killed in war. Think before you say something hurtful to someone else. It may look like they’re okay, but they’re not. Words are more powerful than you think. Repost this not just for Jade, but for every teenager who is going through what she went through.  She is amazing. All she’s gone through, even though she’s not the only one. Her story is out. When I read that she killed herself just days later..I nearly started crying. This girl is beautiful. If I had known her before she killed herself, I would have loved her. Showed her that people still care, even if it would have been just me. I’m sure a lot of people think that. It’s terrible, that sometimes, someone’s story is spoken just when it’s too late. This “I wish I could’ve known her”. If someone who actually knew her, said something, showed her, she might still have been here. Think before you speak
